About Matt
Matt Woodley founded InternationalMoneyTransfer.com in 2016 after losing thousands to hidden bank fees and poor exchange rates when purchasing a property in Spain. After spending weeks researching specialist currency brokers and realising how opaque the market was, he created this site to provide the independent, transparent comparison resource he wished had existed.
Matt holds a degree from the University of Auckland, graduating with a conjoint BA/BCom in Finance, Economics, Marketing, and History. He has worked in financial services for over a decade and has been writing about personal finance and international money transfers since 2014.
As the site's editor, Matt personally reviews every provider featured on the site, verifies regulatory claims against relevant financial registers (FCA, ASIC, FinCEN, FINTRAC, and others), and ensures all content meets the site's published editorial standards.
Matt regularly uses international money transfer services himself -- maintaining property in Spain and making regular overseas payments -- giving him first-hand experience with the providers he reviews. This practical experience, combined with rigorous research methodology, forms the foundation of every review and guide published on the site.
